Just got back from 3 days below the Nekoosa dam fishing for walleyes. High water, and a severe cold front did not deter the fish from making their run. Actually its mostly over by now, but post spawn fish were still in the shallows. We caught plenty of smaller male walleye, along with white bass and a crappie. All came on jig and minnow. Legal fish (15+") were hard to come by but we did catch a few.
The boat launch below the park was not useable due to high water, but river levels are dropping quickly and things should get back to normal soon. More white bass should begin coming upriver in the next few weeks.
By the way, suckers were spawning also.
