25Can you tell me the best place to fish these creeks? I have heard a lot about them, but can never find them on my own.
WTF"s and Pat's excellent adventure...
Took Pat steelhead fishing in Michigan a few weeks ago and forgot to post the pics so here's the folder to browse through at your leisure. The reason you don't see me with any fish is because being the guide I put Pat on the fish first, then when it was my turn I fell on my @$$ in the stream right (notice dirty seat on my waders in photo) when I was within casting distance of a beautiful female and spooked the fish. Luckily pat was not ready with the camera. I came within 2" of dunking my camera and losing Pat's photos so we left the camera in the car after that.
The steelhead run up some small streams that feed Lake Michigan. It's site fishing where you have to totally sneak up on the Steelhead and float a rapala down stream to them. The male that Pat caught had some nice scars (notice the head and tail) and it will be on my grill tomorrow afternoon with a nice cold beverage.
Havent fished there in along time and it was nice to be back. It's hard to believe we were only 1.5 hours from Chicago. Seemed like a million mile away. Enough rambling here's the photos. Sorry they are so big, I will make them smaller in the future so they load faster...

I beleive the tail was "clipped" to identify where the fish was stocked, Fish was definately in full spawning colors, milt dripping off anal fin. looks like you two had a fun day!(notice the head and tail)
we had a great time. the best part was sitting down on the shore watching WTF? try to stalk these steelhead. i think hes clumsier than me! hehe. it was a real cool place to fish, we had miles of beach all to ourselves. never saw another person fishing all day too. the steelhead hitting my rapala had to be the most exciting strike i have ever seen in my life. it was like a explosion. im still excited and its been 2 weeks!

Great pics, I too love that area of MI. I have always been amazed that steelhead will run up a creek no deeper than my bath tub.
