Rivers and rainfall?

I know I've been hearing how the Fox is real low, and how we really need the rains. Well tonight we're getting some rain, I'm sure not enough. But how does a descent rainfall like this effect the fishing on the river/s? Does the turbid waters kill the fishing for a day or 2? Or since it wasn't a loud thunderstorm does it help the fishing?

I would assume that sound and vibration are going to play a much more important role than sight. Not sure if I'm right.

I really haven't fished much on any river so I'm really looking forward to learn the ropes of river fishing.

If the water gets dingy/dirty use flashier/brighter baits. Gold spinner blades, chartreuse colors, someting that rattles.

The fish still stay out of current so fish the eddies. Rising water moves the fish shoreward.

Read Ed's posts. He may cover this in more detail than I could possibly know.

The amount of rain we had yesterday is going to help the fishing. What the rain did was wash insects and other things that the fish love to feed on into the river by means of the shore line and especially the creeks. Now is a good time to fish the mouths of the creeks that lead into the fox. Really the only time when the fishing slows down from rain is when you get way too much at one time. You don't want flood rains of 3 to 4" an hour. This makes the river really quick and the fish don't want to fight that type of current so they head for the deeper holes in the river and wait for food to pass over them. As of lighning and thunder until proven otherwise has not affected the fish during a storm. I know that there was a few times that I got caught in a storm or two fishing in a bass tournament with thunder and lightning and it seemed to improve the fishing the two times this happened to me. It seems that it made them more active like they knew that rain was on the way and they were going to get an abundance of food from the storm. I hope that this information has helped in any way. Enjoy your spring and summer of fishing and I hope that I see alot of you on the water this year.
