love2fish why dont come follow me and be my camera man for a day, then i will have more pics holding the fish, i fish alone sometimes so theres nothing i can do, but you should really bring your boots and your camera and come out to the river with me there will be plenty for you to do if you can keep up.

Dude, there's absolutely no reason even to take pics of 12" Pike. They aren't even legal size, much less toss them in the mud on rocks for you to take a pic.

b.s.

if u want to see some pike from the d.p. i will show u pike that will eat all three of those for bait. those are average to say the least. im not interested in any pike under thirty inches. i don't care to see any pic's of them because they are so common. my problem enlies with taking pic's of these pike after dragging them onto whatever shorline u can find or staging them in the rocks for a stupid pic and then bragging about it and claiming im jealous. I really just wish fisherman with ethics would realize that there are bigger fish and better ways to realease healthy pike so they could have more potential!

I agree, I love seeing reports with pics, even if the fish are not trophy sized. Maybe he could have had a better spot to place the pike, agreed. But saying he shouldn't post pics cause they are dinks is real silly.

The point I make is that it's just stupid to post pics of tiny, undersized fish. It is not for bragging rights, because, who brags about a 12" Pike or a 10" bass? It's just stupidity and harmful to the fish. I mean, what is the point of taking pics of undersized fish? Are you so unsure of your experience and abilities that you have to show off every fish you catch? Go get a 30"+ and take a pic of that.

I have seen tom's fish this year from the desplaines pike and wally's and they were no where near as small as the one's you posted! Putting pike on the rocks is great for the protective slime that coats there skin not! :)3

Cit him some slack guys!
If a fish makes him happy and he wants to post it why should you have a problem with it?

That's the idea of fishing, we're not all record holders, fish tournaments or pros.
We fish because we like and are happy when we catch something, big or not.

Ed, normally I would agree with you, but remember the phrase "anglers with ethics"

That means no pics of abused, undersized fish (illegal to keep) no pics of fish out of season, snagged gamefish, etc. There has to be a line somewhere.

I'm talking about bashing him for even posting the pictures because they were "too" small in your eyes.

And did you ever think of letting someone know that laying them on the mud/rocks isn't a good idea instead of assuming he should already know that?

i think my point was made i will try and pull these pics off my phone to prove that there are much bigger pike than that last one out there. Does anyone know if u can download pics from a phone with a cable that goes from the charger portal to the computer. i would've texted the pics to someone but i dont have text messaging. i guess i can't talk untill i back it up so thats what i'll do!

This must really upset you:

You know when you cast into the river, and get a hit? You get all excited (some may even get a tingling in the pants  ), and you set the hook. You bring it up, and a smaller game fish in on your bait. You can't controll what hits your line, and when it hits your line...but you better be ready. Kudos to northernangler for fishing, and being kind enough to report back to all of us on the action. Instead of trying to come down on him, why don't you naysayers use this thread for it's purpose: information on where you can get a little bit of pike action. I know before I got my hotspots along the river, I did alot of hunting on forums for different places that I may want to get my line wet. If your name isn't Kevin Van Dam, or Bill Dance SHUT IT!!! Finally, these fish we hunt for are alot more resilliant than we give them credit for. In bass tournaments, those fish experience way more stress than those pike that northernangler cought probably ever will. END RANT LOL
